Son Volt, an alt-country, folk/rock band co-headlines with Cowboy Junkies, a Canadian alt-rock band that mixes blues, country, folk, rock and jazz and who have received critical attention and a cult following. Son Volt, whose music ranges from folk-country ballads to barhouse rockers are often compared to The Jayhawks and Automatic for the People era R.E.M. “American Central Dust,” their new album, will be released on July 7th, 2009.
