Former Jefferson Airplane members Jack Casady and Jorma Kaukonen began Hot Tuna as an acoustic spin-off, and eventually the band became their full-time focus, emerging as a popular touring act of the 1970s. They play acoustic and electric versions of original and traditional blues songs. As former members of Jefferson Airplane, Kaukonen and Casady were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.
