Everyone needs a yellow umbrella from time to time. Something to protect from the elements and harsh realities of daily life. Something to use as a tool, in batttle, to provide strength against the enemy. Something to shine brightly and inspire when there is only darkness. This tour was created to bring that light, that spirit, that energy to the fight against cervical cancer.

Created by PopSmear.org, the goal of the Tour is to bring awareness and information to women around the country about cervical cancer and the virus that causes it, HPV. PopSmear.org’s founder, Christine Baze, was diagnosed with invasive cervical cancer in 2000. After numerous surgeries and treatments, Christine was grateful for her life, and decided to make a difference.

She knew that thousands of women were facing this battle each year, a battle that never needs to be. So, being a musician, she organized a benefit concert and called it Pop Smear (2002). It’s tremendous success led to The Yellow Umbrella Tour, a series of concerts around North America intended to raise the awareness about cervical cancer prevention. The Yellow Umbrella Tour is now in its 4th year, and plans are better than ever.
