Mick Kelleher is on the upswing. The unsigned singer/songwriter has been packing house parties to festival shows with his scat-like vocals, storytelling style, and stripped-down sound.
“I never really planned on pursuing a music career,” admits the 24-year-old bard from Texas hiding behind a beard that should mask his boyish face, but doesn’t.

So what does Mick bring to the party? Songs in the vein of chasing women, tequila shots, or both. Everything you would expect from a twenty-something man coming into his own, yet what sets him apart is a bold innocence in his voice, a commanding albeit laidback presence, and a natural, honest view of the world around him.

Throughout Texas, he still enjoys a strong college following who live for his unmistakable sound. Mick Kelleher brings a lazy-cool California sound to his voice styling and songwriting, something he undoubtedly picked up in his summers in Southern California.
It’s been described as funk rock. A new sound influenced by Spanish culture, freestyle beat box, Texas heat, and California women. Call it California beach funk. Call it what you want. It’s an eclectic sound that only a songwriter from Austin could forge.

His writing is clear. Words sometimes even become an instrument rather than simply accompany one. There’s a backporch elegance to it. Mick weaves tales of love or lust lost—or never even realized in songs like “My Spanish Beauty.” Sometimes his whimsical gets a hold of him, adlibbing in the middle of “Boom Boom Yeah” as he did on the main stage of X Games 12 in Los Angeles in front of a curious crowd.

And with more upcoming festival shows in California, Colorado, Arizona and on the East Coast, this could be the summer that an unsigned Mick Kelleher will be revealed.

Mick Kelleher is currently living in L.A. spearheading a fast growing following through his weekly appearances throughout Southern California.
