J-san & The Analogue Sons
Frontman rebel charm and forthright Tuffsoul make J-san & the Analogue Sons a life-force that evokes the integritty of Bob Marley and the romance of Marvin Gaye. With J-san we are united, reminded of struggle, inspired to seek resolution and yet left content… feeling upfull and bright. Tuffsoul music is born.
Longtime favorites in the highly active original music scene of Ithaca, NY the members of J-san & the Analogue Sons have been making heads nod and bodies move for over a decade. Imagine the lover’s rock stylings of reggae legend Gregory Isaacs the society conscious world/rock of Michael Franti and Spearhead the energy of Ozomatill and the pop sensabilities of the Black Eyed Peas and you begin to feel the fire J-san & the Analogue Sons are putting down across the land. With the release of their extraordinary self titled debut album on I-Town Records, these roots-soul warriors will soon be sharing their sounds with the world.
J-san’s incredibly powerful vocals are reminiscent of the great soul singers of any era… deftly moving from love songs dripping with emotion to fiery protest songs that send fists pumping and spines tingling… J-san sings with a rare sincerity and universal love. Energy explodes from the burning brass section led by saxophonist Lee Hamilton, who has gained critical acclaim as former lead horn and arranger for John Brown’s Body (J-san being their original guitarist). Hamilton’s sax and Keaton Damir Akin’s trumpet send shock waves over an audience. On the organ and keys is Michael Stark… doing double duty and giving the group a foundational, dubby baseline. His weapon a Hammond B-3. Matthew Saccuccimorano’s precise drumming brings the rhythm… surely part man/ part machine.
J-san & the Annalogue Sons have shared the stage with such greats as Burning Spear, The Wailers, Spearhead, Toots & The Maytals and Soulive to name a few. The music is a genre bending blend of soul, reggae, rock and afrobeat. Innovative modern sounds with a decidedly urban flavor that will at times make the dance floor tremble, and then make it sway. This is Tuffsoul music.
