Filthy Children
These young Denver-based musicians bring forth a variety of musical backgrounds and influences coalescing into the hip funky sounds of Filthy Children. The band consists of female vocalist Micah Guy (Fabulous Boogienauts, Jaynx), trombonist Jon Braddy (Sammy Mayfield Blues Review, River, Funky Babylonians, O-Tone Brass Band), trumpeter Steve Illich (Sammy Mayfield Blues Review, River, Funky Babylonians, Underdog 5), tenor and alto saxophonist Matt White (Fina Dupa, Buckner Funk’n Jazz, Otone Brass Band, Funky Babylonians, Irie Still), tenor saxophonist Tobey Hopper (Sammy Mayfield Blues Review, River), drummer Kevin Dykstra (O-Tone Brass Band), guitarist Bryant Walker (Funky Babylonians), and bassist Alan Burki (Zeut, Jessica Goodkin Conspiracy, East Colfax Allstars).
Filthy Children first hit the stage together in November 2003 and since then, they have been laying it down all over town. Some events they have played include, Lodo Music Festival ‘04 and ‘05, Capital Hill People’s Fair 04’and ‘05, Copper Mountain’s Ride for the Cure, Minturn Concert Series, Kremmling Fourth of July Celebration, South Park Music Festival and numerous weekend gigs at venues such as The Soiled Dove, Herman’s Hideaway, Blue Mule, Herb’s Hideout, 1515 Market, and Cervante’s Masterpiece Ballroom. Fate has brought this group of filthy, misfit all-stars together, and their large and quickly growing fan base are a testament to their grand performances and appeal.
