Dechen Hawk

Rocked to sleep as a child to the music of Stevie Wonder, Dechen Hawk is a balladeer at heart. His music ranges from ambient rock to serious get up get down funk. A 2009 graduate of Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, he studied with Bill Douglas, Art Lande, and Janet Feder. Dechen also spent nearly a year abroad studying music and teaching English in Prague, Czech Republic. For the past fourteen years he has performed locally and nationally and shared billing with such legends as Leon Russell, R.E.M., Ty Burhoe, and the Fun Lovin’ Criminals. Music credits for television/film include the Swedish documentary “No Artificial Anything”, reality TV’s “What’s Your Problem” (Manhattan, NY), and the indie film “Don Juan’s Diary” (Boulder, CO). Dechen was a finalist at the 2003 North Carolina Songwriters Co-op (NCSC) Songwriter’s Competition and continues to collaborate and record with blood brother Josh Stohl and Right On Brother Productions. His newly formed neo-soul project ‘A Murder of Prose’ highlights the songwriter’s talents.
