An ever-extraordinary evening of fine art and fine wine, the Aspen Art Museum’s annual artCRUSH fundraiser, presented by Sotheby’s, takes place this year at 6pm, Friday, August 1st on the AAM grounds. artCRUSH 2008 “Let It Burn” begins with an exclusive tasting of unparalleled wines sponsored by Southern Wines and Spirits, and coordinated by Master Sommelier Jay Fletcher. The evening’s succulent hors d’oeuvres are prepared by Ryan Hardy, Executive Chef of Aspen’s The Little Nell, and the sumptuous gourmet meal prepared by a team of chefs led by Executive Chef Martin Oswald of Syzygy and complemented by only the finest selection of dinner wines. During dinner, the fourth annual Aspen Award for Art to 2008 will be presented to 2008 artist honoree Ed Ruscha, followed by a spectacular live auction of fine art lots hosted by Tobias Meyer, Worldwide Head of Contemporary Art and Principal Auctioneer of Sotheby’s Europe.
afterpartCRUSH 2008 at Aspen’s Belly Up features the ABBA tribute band Björn Again! Founded in Melbourne, Australia in 1988, Björn Again has achieved worldwide cult status, and have performed over 4,000 shows in 60 countries, as well as playing private shows for celebrities like Brit-comedian Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) and Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe.
